Mele Kalikimaka -- Merry Christmas

Christmas is forever, not for just one day,
for loving, sharing, giving, are not to put away
like bells and lights and tinsel, in some box upon a shelf.
The good you do for others is good you do yourself -- Norman Wesley Brooks -- Let Every Day Be Christmas

The Universe is an Expression of Love

August 12th, 2014

:: "The Universe is an expression of Love"

:: "I was a hidden treasure and I longed to be known, so I created both worlds, the visible and the invisible, in order that my hidden treasure of generosity and loving kindness would be known" ::

From Song of the Open Road -
Afoot and lighthearted I take to the open road,
Healthy, free, the world before me,
The long brown path before me leading me wherever I
choose.
Henceforth I ask not good fortune, I myself am good for-
tune,
Henceforth I whimper no more, postpone no more, need
nothing;
Done with indoor complaints, libraries, querulous criticisms,
Strong and content I travel the open road - Walt Whitman

:: "Whether your destiny is glory or disgrace, Purify yourself of hatred and love of self. Polish your mirror; and that sublime Beauty From the regions of mystery Will flame out in your heart As it did for the saints and prophets. Then, with your heart on fire with that Splendor, The secret of the Beloved will no longer be hidden." :: Jami, translation by Andrew Harvey and Eryk Hanut - 'Perfume of the Desert' ::

:: "He Pua Laha'ole" :: "a flower not common" :: "Ulu Wehi" :: "beautifully adorned" :: :: "Aloha":: "Sharon Mau 09 April 2011 Copyright - All Rights Reserved"

On The Subject Of Global Autocorrect Capitalization Feature

July 15th, 2014

. . just a note to let you know I saw your posting and understand . . I feel the same way . . so a bit of empathy here for you . . I asked Sean for this long ago and it seems we'll never have it unfortunately . . although I wish with all my heart he would make it happen . . I would like my titles to appear exactly as I publish them . I add my title . description and keywords within my metadata so when I upload it is autofill in those fields . often I must edit the title to remove the diacritic letters . . it would be awesome if we could use special characters such as umlaut and okina . . as well as other diacritics for we all know in linguistics the sound is completely altered without it . . and often as well it is purely aesthetic . . But I do understand why we cannot . . . for example with this title as I intend it :: Hau'oli ka lā Aloha kākou :: . . it posts as :: Hau'oli ka la Aloha kakou :: . . because I must remove the okina and the kahako which is a macron. Without the okina and the kahako in the Hawaiian language it will be a completely different sound and/or meaning . . So there is not much I can do about that in the title . . . yet most importantly is the URL . .
with the diacritics

Hau'oli ka lā Aloha kākou

appears in the URL address as

/hauoli-ka-l-aloha-kkou

you see it completely dropped the diacritic letters and skips two letters 'a' in the address . . which isn't correct either . . so I must spell it in English in the title for the URL to be correct . . thus for best search results it becomes :/hauoli-ka-la-aloha-kakou :: . . not the same at all but that's the way it has to be . . . .

. . wish for the first letter in all the words on titles to not be automatically converted to uppercase . that should be no problem and Sean could do it if he wants to . . some or all words in the title are intended to be all lower case and it would be nice if the system didn't change it and would simply publish our titles exactly as we publish them . . .

. . it seems to be a global autocorrect capitalization feature which we are unable to disable . . . .

Consistency in typography appearance across the board on the website may be the reason for that but with respect for our individual artistic expression it is irrelevant . .
It would be lovely if we had the freedom to publish our work with a title exactly as we intended . . . even if we are unable to use diacritics it would be good to have all lower case if we want . . .

So . . just think . it could be worse . . society6 capitalizes them ALL and converts all the letters in our titles to uppercase . . how annoying is that . . I detest all uppercaps . . . in type it is like shouting . . .

. 'ae . . . so it is what it is . . . . my only solution to all this is to repeat the title in my description . . that might work for you as well Dan . . . at least then our viewers may see our title as we intend it to be . it won't interfere with our URL address for the image . . and the description area is similar to an iframe so while we may not include images video examples pull outs drop down and all those variables . . we may in fact also add our diacritic symbols in our text on our description so when the image goes to print it will be there . so that is a good thing . . . . . . my question on that is how many characters are included on the description . . this would be a good thing to know . . .

Aloha . . :)

Sharon
